Recipe 12: Homemade Buttermilk Ranch

April 1, 2011

Listening to: J. Mascis (Album: Several Shades of Why)

On our second trip to the grocery store today, Kristi and I came up with yet another brilliant idea.

A girl was running by our car and I yelled: YOU ARE ON A RUN.

We decided it would be a good idea to start yelling obvious things at strangers. At the grocery store, we would inform a lady with two children that she is the mother of two children, and the children have hair. We would let people know what colors they are wearing. When we are at red lights, we would signal for the car next to us to roll down the window and tell them the light is red but it would soon be green, then wave and roll up our window.

Kristi and I come up with brilliant ideas a lot, but we could never do these things on our own. We can’t keep straight faces, and were not that bold. So we decided we will hire someone who doesn’t think were funny at all to do these things for us, and we decided this person won’t be hard to find.

Another brilliant idea we had today was to make ranch dressing from scratch. We Benz girls, and now our oldest nephew, like to drench our pizza in ranch because we’re gross. Our family is really into dips. Especially ketchup. My oldest sister, Brandi, uses more ketchup in a single setting then most people do in a month. And we don’t care.

I’m giving you all this background because the recipe was so straight forward that there is not much to actually say about it. You literally just mix the ingredients. I didn’t use measuring spoons. we eyeballed everything. And it is awesome. So so so good. I doubt I’ll ever buy store bought ranch again. I bet my last statement isn’t true.

On to the next one.
